Primary Sources
- GSMArena — Manufacturer-supplied technical specifications
- Manufacturer press releases — Official spec sheets from Apple, Samsung, Google and others
- Android Open Source Project (AOSP) — Carrier and device configuration data
- FCC filings — Regulatory submissions for US-market devices
Ranking Methodology
Device scores are calculated from factual spec data using this weighted formula:
- Chipset quality (38%) — Tiered from Apple Silicon/Snapdragon 8-series (95–100) down to entry-level chips
- RAM (16%) — Parsed numeric GB value, capped at 16 GB
- Battery (13%) — mAh capacity, capped at 6,000 mAh
- Camera (11%) — Main camera megapixels, capped at 50 MP
- Display PPI (9%) — Pixel density, capped at 500 ppi
- Screen size (5%) — Optimised around 6.4″
- Release year (5%) — Minor recency bonus, intentionally low
- Weight (3%) — Lighter is marginally better
